LOOK OUT

Around 1987 I was taking a lot of photographs, sometimes for local journalists, and mainly with no financial reward. It was much more commercially viable to write on a subject, with photographs specially taken to illustrate the theme. Starting with local Spanish newspapers published in English, this I did.

I started writing about local ‘celebrities’, ex-pats who had made a success of settling in Spain, for a local colour magazine. This gave me the confidence to approach the very popular and well established English language Magazine, LOOKOUT. They too, were interested in Brits in Spain, but I was aware that I would have to choose the right subject to interest the publisher.
